"As the World Turns - How to Effectively Use Social Media in Lobbying"

With tweets, hashtags, followers and friends we didn't even know we had, how can lobbyists determine which of these tools should be used in our work? This session will explore the ever changing world of social media and how we as lobbyists can effectively and appropriately use it to spread our messages.

Jonathan Kappler,
Director of State Government Relations for the University of North Carolina - General Administration

"Making News Among the Noise" Getting Your Story Heard in Today's Messaging Reality

Newspaper stories, broadcast journalism, emails, texts, and social media and other forms of communication have led to messaging clutter. With more people self-selecting their news sources and mediums, getting your clients story heard is more challenging than at any other time. This session will discuss today's media realities and the most effective ways to get your story heard and reach your target audience.
Panelists are Bruce Mildwurf, Reporter/Anchor WRAL-TV; Scott Mooneyham, Advocacy Communications Specialist, NC League of Municipalities; and Richard Campbell, CB&P President. Moderated by Tom Campbell, Host of NC Spin.

"What Happened Last Tuesday?" A Look at the 2014 Elections

Panelists are Loretta Boniti, Senior Political Reporter for Time Warner Cable News; Andrew J. Taylor, Chair & Professor of Political Science in the School of Public and International Affairs at NC State University; Chris Sinclair, Strategic digital media, social networking and web specialist with Corner Solutions; and Jon Camp, I-Team Reporter for WTVD-TV, covering state government.
