Responsibilities:

• Develop and cultivate trusted relationships with elected officials, staff, lobbyists, industry partners, stakeholders and trade associations in order to protect the interests of the North Carolina Education Lottery.

• Develop legislative strategies to positively influence policy that would impact the Lottery.

• Monitor all gaming-related legislation on a state and federal level.

• Advise Lottery Executive Director on public policy matters, strategic communications and crisis management as it pertains to public affairs.

• Work closely with various statewide associations and stakeholders to implement a communications strategy about education beneficiaries.

• Coordinate grassroots efforts with other state lotteries, vendors and gaming industry lobbyists on federal gaming legislation.

• Manage and implement the Lottery’s industry-leading Responsible Gaming efforts.

• Oversee the Lottery’s corporate social responsibility program.

 

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree

• Previous experience working with the NC legislature, preferably in a lobbying capacity.

• Knowledge and experience with all lobbying requirements and restrictions in a legislative, regulatory and political environment

• Excellent relationship development skills and interpersonal oral/written communication skills, including ability to deliver presentations for the organization.

• Strong organizational skills, including ability to design, prioritize, and manage several projects at a time under time constraints.

• Ability to work long, evening and/or weekend hours when the legislature is in session.

 

Hiring Range: $87,015 - $120,000 DOE
