Good afternoon NCPLA members,
As many of you are aware, the latest budget proposal includes a provision that would raise lobbyist annual registration fees from $250 per principal and per lobbyist to $500. Under this proposal, in Section 35.1 of the draft, the fees for a principal and their 2 lobbyists would be $1,500 per year, for example. The NCPLA Executive Committee met with leadership this morning to express our concerns with this proposal. We have also sent the attached letter to the corner offices and Appropriations Chairmen. As you interact with these individuals today, we invite you to flag our industry’s concerns (which are detailed in the letter) with the fee increase.
