The first project the Community Service Committee will undertake this year is BackPack Buddies.
BackPack Buddies is part of the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and provides food for children who may not have an appropriate amount of food at home, with weekend meals during the school year.
The children - selected by school principals, guidance counselors, and supervisors of
various after school programs - receive a backpack containing six balanced meals and two healthy snacks at the end of every week. This ensures that they have nutritious meals over the weekend.
NCPLA has committed to filling 2 one-hour shifts on Tuesday, April 22. We need 10
volunteers for each one-hour shift. The shifts are from 1 – 2 p.m. and 2 – 3 p.m. and will be filled on a first come, first pick basis.
The back packs filled by NCPLA volunteers will feed more than 1,400 children!
Please volunteer today by contacting Cady Thomas at cthomas@ncrealtors.org to let her know you are willing give one hour of your day to help provide healthy weekend meals to a child in need.
