RLA seeks a full-time associate familiar with the North Carolina General Assembly to work with clients and policymakers engaged in a number of issue areas, including healthcare, energy and environment, and substance abuse treatment. RLA offers a comprehensive compensation package to its employees, including competitive salary, health care insurance, generous PTO, and a 401k retirement plan. 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Support client calls and other client communications and coordination, ensuring accurate tracking of follow-ups, tasks, deadlines, and goals
  • Provide scheduling and other administrative support to the RLA president and RLA clients 
  • Assist in preparing for client and legislator meetings by creating detailed meeting agendas and assembling necessary documents in advance
  • Provide logistical and in-person support for clients visiting the General Assembly during client visits and lobby days
  • Edit and format written materials, including correspondence, PowerPoint presentations, and other materials and documents
  • Manage RLA invoicing, including tracking accounts receivable for timely and accurate financial transactions
  • Acquire and maintain NC Notary certification to facilitate official document verification and processing
  • Manage state lobbying compliance for RLA and its clients to ensure timely submission of expense reports and registration documents
  • Maintain confidentiality standards regarding RLA and its clients
  • Monitor legislative meetings and provide summaries for RLA staff and clients 

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the North Carolina General Assembly
  • Proficiency in office software (MS Office, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Discretion and ability to handle confidential information
  • Detail-oriented and proactive problem-solving abilities
